Description

Sabodala and Massawa (collectively referred to as the Sabodala-Massawa project) are located in southeastern Senegal, approximately 650 km east-southeast of the capital Dakar and 96 km north of the town of Kédougou .

Teranga Gold owns and operates the Sabodala gold project and purchased the adjacent Massawa site from Barrick Gold Corporation. In January 2014, Teranga executed a new merged mining agreement for Sabodala with the Government of Senegal which further expanded the Sabodala mining permit to 291,2 km2 with the inclusion of the Gora gold project. Massawa includes several gold deposits and has been the subject of previous studies and technical reports by Barrick and others, the latest being the Technical Report on the Feasibility Study of the Massawa Gold Project, Senegal , dated September 23, 2019 with an effective date of December 31, 2018. Teranga intends to mine the gold deposits on the Massawa property and process the ore through the existing whole ore leach (WOL) plant at Sabodala (with some modifications) and a new refractory ore processing (ROT) plant to be built adjacent to the WOL plant. Pending completion of the necessary formalities for the full integration and amalgamation of Massawa with Sabodala, the processing of Massawa ore at the Sabodala facilities is expected to take place in accordance with an ore supply agreement and an ore supply agreement. related mining services between Massawa SA and Sabodala Gold Operations (SGO) for this interim period.
