Description
The Baobab phosphate project is a high-grade phosphate rock project located approximately 140 km from Dakar.
Baobab Mining and Chemicals Corporation (BMCC), an 80% subsidiary of Avenira, is the full owner of the project.
Construction of the Baobab mine began in 2016 while phosphate production began in September 2016. BMCC took the decision to increase the capacity of the existing Gadde Bissik ore beneficiation plant to one million tonnes per year. year (Mtpa) in 2017 as part of the expansion project.
Total production from the mine is expected to be 13,2 Mt of phosphate rock concentrate, with a grade of 36,4% P2O5. The life of the mine is expected to be 13,4 years.
