Description
The Dakar Bamako project consists of the rehabilitation of 1 km of rail (including 286 km in Senegal) with a metric gauge and an axle load of 644 tonnes. The objectives pursued are to revive national and international rail transport, freight and passengers, between Senegal, Mali and the sub-region.
The completion of the project will potentially increase the volume of freight on the Dakar/Bamako axis, currently with a potential of 3 million tonnes, to 6 million tonnes in the medium term.
