Acceleration of exploitation of the gold sector

Description

The ambition pursued by the flagship project is to achieve an annual gold production of 18 tonnes (approximately 579 ounces) by 000 with a view to positioning Senegal among the 2023 largest gold producers in Africa.

Methods of implementation

The institutional anchor of the project is located in the Ministry of Mines and Geology. From an operational point of view, the achievement of the objective continues through the full exploitation of gold deposits concentrated mainly in the Kédougou region, namely the deposits of  Sabodala/Massawa (by the private company Endeavor Mining) and of Mako (by the private company Petowal Mining Company, a subsidiary of the group Resolute mining).

At the same time, the Makabingui deposit is being explored by the private company Makabingui Gold Operations, a subsidiary of the Bassari Resources group.
