Alignment of higher education training with the needs of the economy

Description

The diagnosis made during the development of the esp demonstrated that there is today an imbalance and a strong lack of correlation between the educational mix of higher education and the needs of the economy. In order to guarantee a balance between required skills and available skills, the reform “Alignment of Higher Education training with the needs of the economy” was designed with the objective of promoting the professional integration of young people, providing businesses with the skills they need, and improve the employability of higher education graduates. The success of this new economic model depends on the reform of the education system and the training system, particularly their content.

Methods of implementation

To provide a response to the recurring problem of underemployment and youth unemployment, while seeking to generate new avenues of growth through self-employment, it is proposed to operationalize this reform through a pilot phase which will focus essentially on two programs:

  • The Higher Education Training Reform Program in the Service of the Esp (PROF sup-PSE) which aims to align higher education training with economic needs, while meeting the specific objectives of the reform;
  • The Senegalese Program for Youth Entrepreneurship (PSE-J). This is a pilot program of training offers aligned with economic needs with a view to making young Senegalese entrepreneurs in the flagship and job-creating fields of the esp.
