Recovery plan for the regional air hub

Description

The challenge of the flagship “Regional Air Hub” project is to position Senegal as the leading air hub in West Africa, with a traffic of 5 million travelers per year by 2023 and 10 million travelers per year. year by 2035. This is based on: 

  • The commissioning of Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) and the improvement of ancillary facilities (maintenance hub);
  • The rehabilitation of seven (7) regional aerodromes (Kédougou, Tambacounda Saint-Louis, Matam/Ourossogui, Ziguinchor, Kolda and Kaolack);
  • The development of a national airline.

Methods of implementation 

The institutional anchoring of the project is at the level of the ministry in charge of air transport.

Operational implementation is ensured by public and private structures. Public intervention is mainly carried out by the Ministry in charge of Air Transport which supervises the construction work.
