Creation of 3 integrated agropoles
Description
The flagship project “Creation of integrated and competitive agropoles” aims to strengthen the added value of agricultural products and reduce dependence on imports of agri-food products. From an operational point of view, it aims to create 5 agri-food processing centers with vocations defined around the agricultural and livestock sectors, combining shared infrastructure and services and an attractive and simplified incentive framework in the North (Saint-Louis, Matam and Louga), South (Ziguinchor, Kolda and Sédhiou ), Center (Kaolack, Kaffrine, Fatick and Diourbel), East (Tambacounda, Kédougou) and West (Sandiara, Malicounda and N'Guéniène).
Agropoles will constitute agro-industrial development centers facilitating the networking of all value chain actors with increased capacities and skills. They serve as multi-sector platforms for incubation and integration of technologies, equipment and services in favor of SMEs.
Methods of implementation
The institutional anchoring of the flagship project creating “three competitive integrated agropoles” is located at the level of the Ministry of Industry and Small and Medium Industry (MDIPMI).
A Steering Committee has been set up under the chairmanship of the MDIPMI and composed of the Operational Monitoring Office of the esp, the Administration services concerned: Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Equipment (MAER), Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Economy (MPEM), Ministry of Livestock and Animal Production (MEPA), National Agency for Territorial Planning (ANAT), Agency for the Promotion of Investments and Major Works (APIX), Fund Sovereign of Strategic Investments (FONSIS); from the private sector: National Confederation of Employers of Senegal (CNES), Business Councils of Senegal (CDES), National Employers' Council (CNP), Movement of Enterprises of Senegal (MEDS); local communities and development partners.
Major Achievements:
- Start of construction of the Adéane central module of Agropole Sud;
- Start of construction of the Mbellacadiao regional module of Agropole Centre.
Outlook 2023:
- Finalization of the central Adéane module;
- Recruitment of the strategic management partner;
- Capital acquisition of the strategic management partner in the Construction and Exploitation Company;
- Finalization of the Mbellacadiao regional module;
- Recruitment of the strategic management partner;
- Creation of the Construction and Exploitation Company.
