Cities Modernization Program (PROMOVILLE)
The Senegal Cities Modernization Program (PROMOVILLES) aims to contribute to the strengthening of decentralization to promote the economic and social development of the country.
The Program will make it possible to improve in the cities selected in the program:
- The level of road service and transport conditions;
- Optimization of the management of municipal territories;
- The living environment, visibility and nighttime safety as well as the working conditions of women and the employability of young people.
Major Achievements:
- Opening up infrastructure: infrastructure development and/or rehabilitation activities were 73% completed in 2022. Road works focused on the South-East zone, the Dakar region (Guédiawaye, Rufisque, Pikine) , the towns of Mbour and Touba. Training programs for young people in paving trades have also been set up;
- Basic socio-economic infrastructure: Activities focused on the development of related measures, with an achievement rate of 85% for an annual objective of 90%. Related development work on commercial, sporting and social infrastructure was carried out in the municipalities of Keur Massar, Guédiawaye, Mbour, Thiès, Diourbel, Kaolack, Saint-Louis, Louga, Matam, Tambacounda, Kolda and Ziguinchor.
Outlook 2023:
- The PROMOVILLES program also plans to strengthen its interventions in the establishment of infrastructure to open up access, and the provision of commercial and sports infrastructures. The program also plans to broaden the spectrum of intervention to be more impactful and effective for beneficiaries.
RADU Center of Excellence
The overall objective of the project is to support the Operational Monitoring Office (BOS) of Senegal by enabling it to strengthen its capacities and set up a pilot Center of Excellence on “Delivery Units”.
The specific objectives are as follows:
- Strengthen the capacities of the BOS to enable it to play its role as a model in terms of Delivery Unit at the continental level;
- Establish a pilot Center of Excellence intended to support countries wishing to develop a Delivery Unit but also to facilitate exchanges between these countries on the theme of performance.
