Dakar Regional Reference Campus

Description

The Flagship Project “Dakar Regional Reference Campus” (DCR) aims to make Senegal the reference higher education center in the sub-region, in key sectors of the economy. This involves setting up:

A high-level and regionally renowned benchmark higher education offering;
An integrated campus bringing together regionally renowned schools and the services necessary for students (university residences, living activities) in the same area;
A city of knowledge to strengthen support for innovation.

The initiatives below are part of this perspective:

The construction of Amadou Mahtar Mbow University (UAM) of Diamniadio consists of providing Senegal with a world-class STEM-oriented University (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), with a strong business orientation; UAM should, ultimately, have a capacity of 30 students with a social campus of 000 beds;
The construction of the University of Sine Saloum El hadji Ibrahima Niasse (USSEIN) with a capacity of 30 students, a social campus of 000 beds; It will be made up of eleven (10) Training and Research Units (UFR) covering several specialties (Sciences and techniques, agronomy and plant production, Food sciences and technologies, Fisheries resource management, etc.); It will allow the region to have an integrated campus offering a catalog of enriched offers through higher education centers located in Kaolack, Fatick, Kaffrine;
The realization of the project of the City of knowledge in Diamniadio, for the grouping of support services and for better synergy between higher education, research and the business world.

Beyond these three public initiatives, the realization of the ambitions of the flagship project requires the assistance of the private sector, through the creation of private schools or universities providing excellent training aligned with the best international standards.

Methods of implementation

The institutional anchoring of the Flagship Project “ Dakar Regional Reference Campus » is located at the level of Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

Project management is ensured by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI) which supervises the construction work in conjunction with the Office of Architecture and Conservation of the National Palaces (BAC).

Major Achievements:

Inauguration of the social and educational campus of the Amadou Mahtar Mbow University of Diamniadio (UAM), on December 1, 2022 by His Excellency the President of the Republic;
