Creation of 3 integrated industrial hubs for seafood processing

Description

The creation of 3 integrated industrial seafood processing centers, dedicated to the high value-added processing of seafood products, including the development of more diversified and more elaborate products.

This project will enable the strengthening of the added value of exported fishery products, which have hitherto been low in terms of wealth creation for a country with a large maritime coastline.

Senegal will thus make this sector an engine of growth and export for the economy. Nearly 10 jobs will be filled and 000 billion in GDP generated.

Methods of implementation

The institutional anchoring of the flagship project is at the level of the Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Economy (MPEM). Operational implementation is ensured by public structures, notably the Fisheries Processing Industry Directorate (DITP), the Industrial Redeployment Unit of the Maritime Fisheries Directorate; private actors, through the Group of Shipowners and Industrialists of Fishing (GAIPES) and the Union of Fish Traders Exporters of Senegal (UPAMES), producer organizations, through the National Committee of the Inter-Profession of Artisanal Fishing ( CONIPAS).
